April 2, 2006

We stammer uncertainly into a new month. We stammer uncertainly into the future.

Welcome to April.

April is poised to be the month of all months—not only at the Wig but… frickin’ everywhere. It’s starting with a bang, and the excitement ain’t gonna quit.

Most important thing first—I’m seeing my dear, sweet Strokes on April 2 and 4. Yessssssssssss. The only band I would travel to see (that is, unless I’m on payroll) returns to the Northwest after their teaser date on January 5 at the Crocodile. They were fantastttttttic then and they’ll be fantastic this time too. Did you see them on Leno on March 29? It was unbelievable. Yessssssssssss. Unless you’re a fool who listens to lameass critics regurgitating phrases about trends and fashions, you should already own
First Impressions of Earth. And if you do listen to the lameasses… STOP, and then go buy First Impressions of Earth. It’s a delight.

Though I can’t see beyond it just yet, really, the party just starts with The Strokes. This month sees preview/review coverage of Mates of State, John Vanderslice, The Elected, The Rakes and stellastarr*. Interviews are in the works… so features are coming too!

And then there’re those Wig shows…

April 21 at the Crocodile… that’s FRIDAY at the CROCODILE… The Wig presents Shim, Mooncalf, David Bavas & The Down Comforter and The Lonely Forest (CD Release!). That’s a 7 dolla’ ticket, and oooo baby it’s a-worth it.

On April 23, also for the 21 and over crowd, The Wig is presenting WALLPAPER at the Bad Juju Lounge (at Neumos)… for FREE! That’s right, the sweet, sweet tunes of Wallpaper for the cost of… air. That’s right, air. Yeah. Tired of contemplating your next meal or a concert? This time you don’t have to. You can have your Big Mac and eat it too.

If you’ve got that spare $10, you would be wise to make your way to our other exciting happening this month… April 28 at the Paradox we’ll be celebrating the spring issue launch of REDEFINE magazine with The Helio Sequence, Crystal Skulls and Silversun Pickups. Yes! It’s a phenomenal line-up, and we’re so very happy that the date is finally getting a bit closer. This one is, in the fine tradition of the fabulous Paradox, ALL AGES! So if you have to miss the 21st and 23rd, please, don’t miss this. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 the day of the show at the door. Head to
www.ticketweb.com for tickets.

More shows are in the works for May and you’ll have that info. pronto! Pronto, I say!

Send messages of love, button requests and smiling faces my way.

x to the o,
ashley

p.s. As of April 1, 2006, The Wig is 2 years old! Woohoo!
