August 15, 2006 - Neumo’s - Seattle, WA

I’ve never been much for listening to French Kicks albums. If I’m in the mood for their brand of 2001-era NYC rock, I’m more apt to listen to their peers the Walkmen, or even Robbers on High Street. (And anybody who’s anybody knows I’m a much bigger “fan” of Hamilton Leithauser than I am of Nick Stumpf). What? Still, all things considered, the Kicks have crafted my favorite work of theirs to date with the latest disc Two Thousand. It’s infinitely punchier than previous efforts, which would be cause for dislike for a diehard Kicks fan… but for this one, it’s cause for celebration. Last time I saw them live it sold me on the albums, and since I'm already sold this time around, well, it should be all the better.
Am I still bitter they took down the “What Would French Kicks Do?” portion of their website? Hell yes. That shit can't ever be made up to me.
