| Julep
This Will Happen Again by Adam Toth 05.13.07 This Will Happen Again is the debut EP from duo-husband-wife (two couples) band, Julep. These local Seattle rockers pride themselves on their mix of varying instrumentals with meaningful lyrics from lead singer, Jen Fox. Julep is lacking a fair share of originality besides the physical make-up of the band. The album sounds like your most recent mix tape, but with only one singer. The positive side of that is that each song sounds different (there’s a good variety of musical types in the songs). The negative side is that most of the songs honestly sound like songs you’ve already heard. Each song seems to borrow different styles from songs by other bands and jumble them into a newfound form of “originality.” This is good start for Julep, and they definitely shine in the talent and promise departments. They still need to find their niche in the musical world, and once they do, they could be an exciting band to check out. They promise This Will Happen Again, and I really hope it does.
