Triple Door – October 1, 2006
by Katie Sauro
With distorted shoegaze melodies and charmingly melancholy acoustic guitar movements, folk soprano Kaki King’s sound has an ethereal quality that lends itself easily to the intimacy of the Triple Door. On tour supporting her recently released third album, ...Until We Felt Red, King shows off her growth as a songwriter, both lyrically and instrumentally, adding electronic blips and distinctive percussion to her repertoire. In order to translate the new-found psychedelia and loops from album to stage performance, King will play with a full band Sunday night, focusing her set on the new album.
King is currently touring as part of the Yellow Umbrella Tour to raise awareness about cervical cancer prevention, along with fellow female singer-songwriters Christine Baze and Sarah Bettens.
