Nalika
Nalika
by Karla Ash

With the internet making the world smaller, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Top-40 radio take on an international flavor. Actually, that would be ideal as radio has become too dominated by American artists, which isn’t reflecting much of what the planet has to offer. I wish the exotic model looks of Nalika were reflected more in her music, which leans heavily on American R&B. But that’s due to her production team, and the goal it seems is to break into the conservative U.S. market. Born in London, England, Nalika’s roots are from Sri Lanka. While I would’ve loved to hear more Sri Lanka than America in these songs, her voice completely won me over. She is sexy and soulful, and her personality comes across well.
