January 28, 2006 – The Crocodile – Seattle, WA

Oh, the wonders that the Votolato brothers have brought to our fair city. The regulars in the local scene can probably fill a hand and then some counting the amount of times we’ve seen one or more of the Voto bros. in their various projects. Catch the Waxwing finale last December? Maybe Blood Brothers’ last hometown set? Wherever we go, whatever we do, the Votos are never too far away—and dammit, what a fabulous comfort that is.
Brother Rocky’s latest disc, Makers, warranted not one but TWO CD release shows at The Crocodile this week, and though Miss Sauro and I might have missed the earlier kiddie show, if the crowd at the 21+ one was any indication, both were wild successes. Rocky is still lovable, excited and a joy to behold on the stage, and his set, though of course heavy on the new material, was a prime example of just why THIS Votolato is so important to the city.
Rocky plays next at Neumos with Bob Mould on February 15. For more information on the man and Makers, head to www.rockyvotolato.com.
