This is one of those CDs I get and put at the bottom of the pile and forget about, dismissing it as a copycat of something else that its cover or its bio reminds me of. Then I donít listen to it until weeks after its arrival and most, MOST, of the time I was right about it all along.
Starlight Mints should never have gone ignored for as long as they did. Every CD in my collection considered, I think Drowaton is one of the most fun. (Thatís ďnot a wordĒ backward. My cousin says itís lame when people donít mention that in reviews and they look like asses for not ďgetting it.Ē) These songs are perky, wild and spontaneously not spontaneous, bringing to mind circus imagery and kid show theme songs. Itís great. The live show brings them to life almost.exactly.like.they.sound.on.the.album. Itís a feat, because these songs are loony. The live show? Even loonier, and so, so, soooo damn good.
