April 13, 2004 - Moore Theatre - Seattle, WA
|Because I was disinterested in seeing any of the other bands on the Aussie Invasion Tour I arrived to the show three-quarters of the way through its line-up. I fear, now, that I may have missed the better part of the evening's music.
As I approached the theatre there were people quite literally flooding out of the doors. Concerned that I had arrived too late, when I inquired I found out the truth: The Vines had just taken the stage. As I took my seat in the balcony I realized what all the fuss was about. What escaped the stage was the unskilled yet inescapable voice of Craig Nicholls.
Nicholls is a showman, but his haphazard appearance and constant wailing is only interesting for awhile. No matter how exciting any live show is, and The Vines' IS exciting, the core of any performance is the music and The Vines just didn't have that perfected.
